We artificially generated 5 datasets each consisting of 40 timepoints using Gillespie’s SSA, and performed parameter estimation based on these datasets. For the initial iteration, we placed bounds on the Sobol sequence parameter search space of , for . The minimum, maximum, and average MRE between the true parameters and their estimates across all 100 runs of each algorithm (using the standard SSA) are summarised in Table 1, together with corresponding CPU run times. Box plots summarising the obtained parameter estimates across all runs of each method are displayed in Fig. 1.
